Just a few days ago we began our annual observance of Lent. We know that this sacred time is characterized by our increased awareness of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. We unite closer to God in our daily conversations with Him; we examine those things that keep us from placing Him at the center of our lives; and we focus on the ways we can extend God’s blessings in our own lives to the lives of our brothers and sisters in need. A wonderful way we as a diocesan family come together to do just that is through our support of the Annual Diocesan Appeal: One in Hope, One in Mission. 60 cents of every dollar raised goes to the service of our brothers and sisters in need through the compassionate ministry of Catholic Charities in our six counties. The remaining 40 cents is used to enhance a wide variety of ministries in our parishes, schools, and other institutions throughout the diocese. Together, we are working to raise $4,000,000 to fulfill our mission. Our parish share of that goal is $39,800. Please complete and return your pledge card, either received in the mail or picked up at Church, as soon as possible. Your support is invaluable in reaching our goal. For more information about the work of the appeal or to make a gift online, visit www.doy.org. On behalf of Bishop Bonnar, and all who will be ministered to by your generosity- thank you. Through our shared commitment to prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, we hope “That all may be one!”
