ANNUAL DIOCESE APPEAL:

One in Hope, One in Mission

In the Gospel today, we hear “if you love (only)
those who love you, what recompense will you
have?” In responding to God’s invitation to be
missionary disciples in the world, we are called to
recognize God’s blessings at work in our lives
and, united in His love, share those blessings with
our brothers and sisters. One of the great ways
we can share that love is by prayerfully reflecting
on our support of the Annual Diocesan Appeal;
One in Hope, One in Mission. 60% of every dollar
raised goes directly to the support of our Catholic
Charities ministry across the six counties of the
diocese. Last year, approximately 35,000 individ-
uals and families were served with love and com-
passion. 40% of all monies raised support the
continued ministries of the diocese, which assists
the 60,000+ households in our parishes across the
diocese. This year, the combined goal of all par-
ishes is $4,000,000, of which our parish share is
$39,800, which is based on our portion of total di-
ocesan offertory collections received last year. If
you have already received an Appeal brochure
and invitation from Bishop Bonnar in the mail,
please make a prayerful response today! If you
have not, please take an Appeal brochure from
Church today and take some time to reflect on
your gift. Beginning next weekend, we will have
three “commitment weekends,” please mail your
pledge card back to the diocese in the included
return envelope or drop it in the offertory basket
sometime over these three weeks. For more infor-
mation about the work of the appeal or to make a
gift online, please visit www.doy.org. On behalf
of Bishop Bonnar, and all who will be ministered
to by your generosity – thank you. Through
this great expression of love, we pray, “That
all may be one!”
