Welcome Summer!!! After a long, cold winter you
were certainly missed, and a welcome sight! It’s my ab-
solute favorite time of the year weather wise, and I know
many dislike the humidity. However I have never once
had to shovel humidity, or worry about having 4 Wheel
drive to navigate through it. Also the ability to be outside
in the fresh summer air is energizing to me. Hopefully
this summer, everyone has the opportunity to refresh
after a crazy winter season.
This weekend we celebrate the most Holy Body and
Blood of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! At this
time, in our world, we need to fall in love again with the
most Holy Eucharist. Eucharist, as we all know, means
thanksgiving and we need that attitude of thanksgiving
every single day. We have to live with that “attitude of
gratitude,” and it seems to be something our society has
forgotten. What are we thankful for today? What can we
do each day to remind ourselves how wonderful, in spite
of the many challenges we face, that life truly is? The
Eucharist is meant to empower us, by connecting us ev-
er closer to our Savior. To help us navigate the crosses
that we face on a daily basis. Saint Maximilian Kolbe
once said “if angels could be jealous of men, they would
be for one reason: Holy Communion.” We HAVE to fall in
love with the Eucharist to truly understand the sacrifice
Christ made on the cross. The Eucharist is the true medi-
cine of our time, and if we want to really live forever this
is the only way. Too many folks today are so afraid of
dying that they forget to live, and love what they have
been given. We all have been given the choice, and op-
portunity, to truly live in peace and love with our Savior.
We have to fall in love again with the Eucharist!
The readings are so powerful this weekend, and it
deals with the true bread of life! Our second reading
talks about when Christ gave us His body and blood, and
the Gospel reading is all about the feeding of the 5,000.
Neither one of these readings have anything to do with
physical hunger, but they focus on the spiritual hunger
that so many have these days. Our world is literally dy-
ing, because they are begging for what Christ has to of-
fer them. We as Catholics have to invite people to our
Lord’s Supper. How do we do that? We stop judging
people and offer them encouragement. We stop com-
plaining to people about our problems, and we tell them
how grateful we are for what we have. We can’t be afraid
to offer a kind gesture. We must truly live our Lord’s Be-
atitudes, and help people with that spiritual hunger that is
keeping them from Christ’s peace. Start with one person
to be kind to, and maybe you need to start being kind to
yourself first. What can you do, today, to journey with
someone to Christ Jesus?!?!
I pray everyone has a safe and wonderful Summer!
We have so much work to do for the Kingdom of Heav-
en, but the journey will be so worth it! Let us all, contin-
ue, to fall in love with the Eucharist!!!!
