It seems like July just started and here we go; August you’re up, and at this point, I feel it necessary to humbly tell August to play nice. Selfishly I am grateful to see Major League Baseball start again as it just lets me zone out and enjoy a sport that I have loved since I was 6 years old. However there is
still a long road to haul it seems with the Corona Virus, and all that goes with this. Who would have thought something like this could show how divided we still are. Not just as a country, but as a world. It seems we have forgotten that God is the Father of all, therefore making us brothers and sisters in Christ. We really need to ask ourselves is this anger we are feeling right now really worth it??? I know, I know we all want our lives back in some sense, but for just a second we need to focus on forward. There is no going back, back is gone forever. Why? Because we are meant to move forward. I would love to have my 16-year-old knees back, but much like
the past, they are gone forever. We move forward in life to keep moving towards the Almighty Father so that we can live truly with Him for eternity.

We see Jesus going through something very traumatic in this weekend’s Gospel; John the Baptist is killed. John also happens to be Jesus’ cousin, so not only did He lose a faithful follower, but a family member as well. What does He do? Does He lash out and blame everyone around Him? Nope, He makes everyone sit down and He uses His power to feed everyone that is with Him. No doubt He is saddened by what has occurred and in some ways, He is probably devastated for His family, but He moves forward the best way He knows how; and that is by giving thanks to the Father. Moving forward is a key component to healing and starting over after something like what we are experiencing right now. The only thing we need to take from the past is the experiences we gained from those moments in time. The good, and yes even the bad, but they are not meant to be anchors for us. They are meant to lift us up and bring us closer to the Almighty Father.
Let us challenge ourselves this week to meditate on how the Heavenly Father wants us to move forward, turn off the noise, and just be. Have an amazing week!
