In less than a month we will be heading into the beautiful season of Lent, and it is absolutely my favorite time of the year. It is a time to meditate on the Passion of our Lord and to draw closer to Him as best as possible. With all the chaos of life, we need these Liturgical Seasons to recharge our physical and spiritual batteries. The days seem to force us to fill every minute with some kind of activity or some type of commitment. It is our faith that helps us take control over these demands and try to put perspective in our lives prioritizing what is truly important. We must make time to rest.
In our Gospel reading this weekend, Jesus is trying to teach His followers about being examples of light in a very dark world. This lesson is very relevant to our society today. There is too much darkness in our world, and people are begging for beacons of light. All they see is negativity, and every one of our senses is being bombarded with negative nonsense. We must help each other find the light of Jesus Christ, and Jesus chooses to do this through every one of us. We, however, have control of the light switch. Christ wants nothing more for us than to flip that switch and live a life that reflects His light of Mercy and Love for everyone around to see! Our question of the week is, “will we let that light shine?”
