Well here we are already through the month of January. Where does the time go? It’s so easy to get lost in the craziness of the day as we try and fit in as much as we can into a single day. It’s times like these we have to ask ourselves if we are taking time to take care of our mental, physical, and spiritual health. Are we truly taking in those special moments of life and using them to refresh ourselves? Life tends to try and dictate to us what we should and shouldn’t be doing, and with this lifestyle, it makes it very tough to fit God into our lives. We as Catholics have been given the great gift of our faith to help us center ourselves and focus on God, whether we pick up our rosary, sit in front of a crucifix, or crack open that bible that is just sitting on the shelf. Whatever our favorite faith practices, we must grab hold of them and use them to help us slow and enjoy the ride more!

This Weekend’s Gospel reading takes us back to that powerful moment when Jesus calls out to men fish-ing and says “Come after me and I will make you fishers of men!” We see these men drop their lives and follow this man. Unbeknown to them, they were following the only true Son of God. What a moment this must have been for them? They must have been scared out of their minds to leave their livelihoods to follow someone they barely knew. Faith and hope have a very funny way of making us rise to the occasion and live a life of courage! Our faith and hope give us the ability to continue during the difficult and hectic times, but it also helps the good times in our lives become great! As we start heading towards Lent, let us “drop our nets” and follow Him! HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
